Battery Replacement Options
index.html
There are three choices open at the time of writing when one needs to replace a Giant battery for a LafreeTwist, Comfort, or ST model:

1) A new one from Giant.  At one time upgraded to 9Ah and 216 W/h, now back to the previous standard 6.5 Ah and 156 W/h capacity, leaving the bike's range unchanged.  The price at time of writing is £250.

2) Using a recelling company to re-cell the battery, though few like to tackle this on the Lafree battery due to possible complications.

3) Buying a cellpack from such as Batteryspace in the USA and fitting it yourself using the instructions linked to below.

If you'd like to have a deeper look at what's involved, click here, but read the warning below first.

WARNING.   Re-celling should not be undertaken lightly. There are possible dangers both during and after the operation if the instructions given here are not followed closely.  Care must be taken not to short adjacent cells together, and all possible points for subsequent shorting must be insulated  adequately. As well as protecting the battery to ensure long life, the temperature sensors are essential safety features must be replaced in the same positions as previously occupied in the old cellpack.  The  responsibility disclaimer  on  the  Home  Page applies here.
